To many Canadians, T & T Supermarket is the embodiment of the taste of Asia. It differs from other supermarkets by featuring many uniquely Asian food products not available in other retail outlets.

Shopping at T & T is like taking a journey through parts of Asia where one finds fresh mangoes from the Philippines, crispy snacks from Japan, sauces from Hong Kong, noodles from Taiwan, spices from Thailand and a variety of flavours from China and other Asian countries.

A favourite stop among shoppers at T & T is the seafood department where fresh fish, shrimps and crabs swim in large holding tanks waiting to be chosen by discerning customers. Other exciting finds include the giant elephant clam (Geoduck) with its long trunk, lobster and Alaskan king crab, all gleaming and delectable.

Operation

Freshness and customer satisfaction are the two anchor-stones of the T & T operation. They focus on quality, innovation and on-going improvement in product selection, customer service and shopping convenience to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Our customers find that in addition to the many departments found in a regular supermarket, T & T distinguishes itself by having an in-house bakery, an Asian deli, a Sushi and a Chinese BBQ department.

The approach has proven successful and T & T has continued to grow.

Growth

T & T Supermarket Inc. is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. In 1993, the first T & T was opened in Burnaby's famous "Metropolis at Metrotown" shopping centre in Greater Vancouver.

Rapid expansion followed and with six stores in Greater Vancouver, T & T crossed the BC province and ventured east in 1999 to open a store in Calgary. In 2000, T & T added a new store in Greater Vancouver at the reputable Coquitlam Centre shopping Mall.

In 2002, T & T established its foothold in Canada's eastern region by opening its ninth store at the prestigious Promenade Shopping Centre in Thornhill, Greater Toronto. Before the end of the year, another T & T opened in Edmonton's West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest indoor entertainment and shopping centre.

T & T is now a household name among many ethnic Canadians. It is also gaining recognition and popularity within segments of the mainstream community.

Since its inauguration over 10 years ago, T & T has received excellent support and co-operation from suppliers and real estate developers across Canada. They believe in the T & T business proposition and have stood steadfastly by T & T as it makes its mark on Canada's grocery retail industry. They are T & T business partners and as T & T grows, suppliers and real estate developers also prosper, sharing the success of T & T.

T & T's spectacular expansion has meant that it is now Canada's largest Asian supermarket chain. It has 7 stores in Greater Vancouver, 2 stores in Alberta (one each in Calgary and Edmonton) and 3 stores in Greater Toronto, making a total of 12 stores in the chain.

Principals

One of the frequently asked questions of T & T Supermarket is about its name - "T & T".

The first "T" stands for Tawa Supermarket Inc., a California based Asian supermarket chain of 21 stores with over 2,000 employees. The second "T" represents Uni-President Enterprises Corp., a public company and one of the top 10 conglomerates in Taiwan. The Chinese name of Uni-President is pronounced "Tung Yee". Both Tawa and Uni-President are major shareholders of T & T Supermarket Inc. and they are joined by a number of Canadian investors.

Cindy Lee is currently the President and she oversees the T & T operation with a team of over 2,300 employees.
